Nothing like breaking in a new pair of gloves!

They sure don’t look like that now!

I’ve done it! After only a few good hours of hardcore hoeing (pun intended!) and two full yard and garden bins my first garden space is nearly finished. There are a few remaining stragglers and a rather unruly stump that need to be uprooted, but soon this patch of dirt will hopefully be a healthy garden. The only thing slowing progress at this point is the question of layout. Rows or columns? To plant infront of the HVAC vent or not to? The drip hose I plan on watering with is layed out in a pattern I believe may work. I would have five columns with small walk ways and a spot for greens infront of the unit. Im not sure if I should bury the drip or set it on the surface. aestheticly I would prefer to bury it, however being able to reposition easily may be more effective for my first try. Unfortunately my home doesn’t get almost any light so I have been trying to plan a spring garden that will do well in mostly shade. If you have any suggestions of what does well in the shade I would be incredibly grateful!

Our garden space in all its glory!
